Off and running
After having Silver in training for about a week and a half I must say that I am surprised and impressed by his intelligence. I worked him on the ground for the first couple days, I felt that his manners had some work that needed done. However because he is smart and learns so fast, manners haven't been an issue since. When I started riding him, he was no trouble at all, he acted like he wanted to kinda do what ever he wanted and tell me to shove off, he even struck at me on the ground while I was working on some flexing. However, after a couple rides together he has officially come to the party and tries very hard to learn what I am showing him. He is acting calm about everything, he is loping good circles both directions, starting to stay round on the corners and making his lines straight. I have walked him over obstacles such as tarps and had no problem at all. He is showing me that he is very responsive to my legs and my seat. I am certain that I will have a lot of fun training this horse. However on horses like this it is very easy to push them too hard too fast because they learn so quickly. I am going to keep things at a slow pace that he can understand and stay calm about. I will progress at a pace that will keep him being the horse that he is showing me he has the potential he can be. Until next time God Bless, BW
